Devonta Freeman 2020 Outlook

Has anyone heard what the terms of the contract are (i.e., length, value, etc.)?

I haven't been able to find anything but I'd guess it's a 1 yr worth between 6 and 8 mil.  The Giants only had around 9 mil in cap space.  Very curious myself.  He declined several offers and BA said he was asking for "a lot of money" and implied he was looking for an unreasonable amount when the Bucs were talking to him.

Whatever it was... it was probably too much.

He was rb21 last year, and that’s missing three games.

Is that..good?  And now he will be on a much worse team with a much worse offense in a system he does not know yet?

Thinking if they are paying him a lot, they will try and get their money's worth.  Should dominate backfield snaps and touches in short order.

Well, I’ve been ravaged by injuries already in a couple leagues so I don’t really have the luxury to be extremely picky with the waiver wire options. Is an RB2 good? Yes, to me it is when I just lost Saquon.

I was in .5 ppr and it wasnt bad...he was my best back lol it was a rough year on rb for me to say the least but i made the playoffs with him lol falcons are not a good run team...once shanny left the offense dropped off in the run department...jason garett is a terrible coach but if he is running what dallas runs with zeke there should be plenty of action in the passing game to make it work at an rb2 level

This is a tough call to try to get this guy. It’s gonna be expensive in my league. I am in desperate need of rb’s but wondering if I should wait for a better opportunity to spend my faab. If we knew he was going to get a majority of the work it might be worth it but we don’t know that for sure.

That’s pretty much the nature of the beast with faab. Everything is pretty much a gamble. The only sure things were like Conner or Chubb: Great situation and/or great talent. This is neither of those situations. So you just gotta gauge how much to bet.

That's a low end RB2 in 12 team leagues.

I'm not expecting him to be a world beater, but as a Saquon owner I need all the RB depth help I can get (fortunately, I also drafted Aaron Jones) so I'll be spending big FAAB on him.

What opportunity is that? To disappoint and not be judged for it, since the rest of your team is a disappointment?

Translation - “only team to make an offer”

DR is a good agent but he’s also full of sh*t to the media most of the time

An opportunity to play with a good offense where he will be a three down back for the duration of the season.  I say this knowing the Giants are currently bottom in the league in both passing and rushing for 2020. The Giants have a good offense.

Sorry fella.  Devonta Freeman learning the Giants offense on the fly is not going to amount to an RB2.  Only heartbreak and misery await.

No more tippie toeing around the obvious. Devonta Freeman is going to NY to be featured and audition for another shot at a starting job next season. It's the only reason he would PASS on the other "opportunities" and accept this one. They promised him a SIGNIFICANT role. OTherwise, why bother? He could have settled for a backup role on a contender if it really didn't matter. Stop getting in your own way. If you are in need of a RB, THIS is the opportunity you have been waiting for. So many owners in here afraid to be wrong. You will be kicking yourself in the a** if you have a chance to get this guy and you go in on one of these placeholders. I expect Freeman to be the main carrier and third down specialist within two weeks. You're welcome.

Shouldn't be too hard to learn. Fall down when he hands it off!

Well, if he can do better than Sony Michel, he'll become a starter for me.  Low bar to aim for.

Seems like a very polarizing player. Lots of opinions ranging from potential league winner to he's washed, don't waste your time (and FAAB/WW priority). Reality probably lies somewhere in between. Question is where.

I think he plays right away, but is in a committee until he learns the playbook and gets back into playing shape. Schedule doesn't look great, but if he does in fact take on more of a feature back role by mid-season, I see RB2 value. I'm putting in a FAAB bid, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be out bid.

Good luck to all that are going all in on him. Hope it pans out.

Well, I disagree. I think he eventually can. And like I said, it’s not like I have much of a choice. Your hands are kind of tied when you lose your first round pick for the season.

Ya fella, I remember how long it took Drake to learn Arizona's playbook... took him weeks before he was any good

Would you guys spend a #2 waiver on Devonte?

I’d say yes since you’re not going to get another shot at a starting RB from the WW unless you’re in a shallow league where handcuffs aren’t already owned.

I think I actually like him more than Davis, even for CMC owners as long as you’re not in need of a win right away. Would probably make for better trade bait too.
