And the worst part is it's not just that he misses games, it's that he starts them but doesn't finish them. As we know that's the real killer in fantasy. Dobbins is on arguably the best offense in football, and his role will continue to expand. I know it sounds absolutely crazy, but if I were drafting today I'd take Dobbins over Conner. so I used a 3rd round pick on JK Dobbins. Lol. Nice!
ColoWrex 1,951
Hmmm.. starting to wonder if he got benched for mouthing off and the "ankle" was just to cover it up. This backfield is gonna be a mess and I regret having part of it.

I think whoever they choose as their starting RB going forward, they will get the majority of the work. It doesn't seem like Tomlin is going to make it a 50-50 timeshare all of a sudden. Either they stick with Conner and he gives you the numbers you drafted him for, or they pass the baton to Snell and he gives you 80-90% of the production you drafted Conner for. Assuming there are secret motives for a benching is silly. 6 Carries and he got a full game benching without really being hurt? I agree with you. People need to discuss this. People assuming Conner is going to hang up his cleats and isn't worth a RB4 in trade are wild. A guy who came into the year with major durability concerns tweaks his ankle in the first half of week 1. And he didn't look good while he was in there either. Not hard to see what's going on here.

FeastMode 374
He gave me cancer last night. But like others said, Steelers have always used a workhorse under Tomlin, and they use a back who can run and catch. That isn’t Snell or Samuels. It’s Conner, for so long as he’s healthy. If I didn’t already own him I’d buy low.

If Conner is healthy, he will play. He isn't going to be benched suddenly after one quarter of play into the season.

Savatage79 2,427
I've said it many times, hes not our guy...hes just not. Love the kid and his story, class act, but hes made out of paper mache and thats all there is to it. Ive had him from the start every year and when he's on hes on, but this dude is at s point now where for fantasy you can not rely on him for a minute. Glad I wisened up this year and let others have that headache Edited September 15, 2020 by Savatage79

And he didn't look good while he was in there either. Not hard to see what's going on here. I wouldn't say he didn't look good, he looked like typical Conner. Conner's a JAG when it comes to elusiveness. He works best when he's not touched in the backfield. He was touched in the backfield 4 out of his 6 runs. Very little running space. For someone like Conner with little lateral quickness, he's not going to turn a -2 yard run into a 10 yard gain, he's going to turn a -2 yard run into a 0 yard run. He may shake the first defender off but will generally take the contact and go forward, which is what he did. And in that sense he really didn't look bad. But if this is new Steelers norm for run-blocking, that does not bode well at all to Conner's skill set. He also converted a 3rd down on a catch where he ran a solid route and got popped pretty good, which is what a good receiving RB should do. Now he also had a clear drop on a not so great pass by Ben, but one that should be caught by a pass-catching specialist back. He definitely expressed anger at the sidelines after at least one of his runs, and looked agitated. And during the series he was replaced on, he could be seen with his helmet on keeping ready to go back in the game. I'm still not really seeing much to indicate a major injury, outside of him getting his ankle taped up, which isn't unheard of. Snell looked better than last year, with more lateral quickness. His skill set is limited, but it's definitely concerning to Conner's value even when healthy. I was never a fan of Conner, but there was nothing better at the 2-3 round turn. Hopefully he's healthy and settles back into his workhorse role for a few weeks at least. But this is a reminder of how fragile his fantasy value is. If he comes back full force, I will be selling high for similar talent with less headache.
