Seth Lugo 2020 Outlook

Recommended Posts

Stud reliever who looked great again today in his first appearance.

For those familiar with how he is used, by throwing 30 pitches today is he unavailable tomorrow or could he still used?

cant imagine he would be used tomorrow, especially with the depth of their bullpen

I'd say it's unlikely he'd go tomorrow- I don't remember him going back to back many times last year, especially after a two inning outing

Moved into the rotation.

Any thoughts on upside here? Any to be had?

Tough blow for Lugo owners- he was one of the most valuable relievers in the league

I guess you have to hold for now and see how it plays out

Rooting for him to get stretched out and be effective but this already reeks of the Mets bungling a good thing like they are prone to do.

This decision almost cost them a win last night and with the shortened season making every win more important. I guess for Lugo owners this only helps if your SPs are depleted and your Closer outlook is good.

5 weeks left in the season, about 7-8 starts probably take 3-4 to get stretched out. Also had trouble staying healthy in the past as a starter. I’d be looking to sell right now

His previous starts haven’t gone well.  I’d rather him be a reliever, but can understand the Mets wanting to move on from door matz

3 innings pitched as a starter (mind you against Miami)

no hits, no walks and 5 strikeouts

can we expect quality starts from this excellent reliever?

He’s was incredibly efficient - 3 IP, only 39 pitches. But as you stated, this was the Marlins. He’ll have the Yankees and I believe the Phillies next, and I don’t see him being allowed to throw anything close to the number of pitches he’ll likely need to get a QS against these teams.

So now we’re looking at at least three starts before he stands a reasonable chance to go a full 6 IP, and I’m honestly not sure he’s worth holding onto for that long with so little left of this shortened season.
