I can't believe Cleveland would even think about trading him to the White Sox.

Padres make more sense for Clevenger - they have the controllable pitching return Cleveland would want.

Yanks showcasing Garcia today as well me thinks.

Dammit. Mercí beaucoup.

I had 4 years of high school French but that was over 20 years ago.

Best trade for this season far? Padres getting Rosenthal? Blue Jays getting T Walker? Other?

Padres acquire Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox for Hudson Potts and Jeisson Rosario

Good.  Now it's Dalbec time in Boston along with Chavis of course.

Moreland to be in a pure DH platoon with Ty France?

According to his new manager:

Quote

Padres acquired 1B Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox for OF Jeisson Rosario and 3B Hudson Potts.

Moreland has had a big season, batting .328/.430/.746 with eight home runs and 21 RBI. He would figure to get most of his at-bats in the designated hitter spot, and manager Jayce Tingler said he plans to play him most days both against righties and lefties. The Red Sox are promoting Bobby Dalbec to take Moreland's roster spot and he should see plenty of time at first base, along with Michael Chavis.

We will see how long they let him hit against lefties in reality though.  He stinks as much against them as he is golden against righties.  A true, old school platoon guy.

Braves pick up a warm body:

Quote

Sun, Aug 30

Braves acquired LHP Tommy Milone from the Orioles for two players to be named later.

Advice: Milone will start for the Braves on Sunday in Philadelphia. The left-hander holds a 3.99 ERA and 31/4 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings covering six starts and has pitched well of late. The Braves are not done looking for pitching help.

If clevinger is traded does plesac get the call?

That would be my guess. Bieber, Carrasco, Civale, Plesac, & McKenzie.

Nola to the Padres?

@theaceofspaeder: FWIW, the #Padres are still working on finalizing their deal for Jason Castro to be their everyday catcher, and #Indians catchers have a .431 OPS this season – worst in all of baseball; Nola has a .903 OPS on the year. Anticipating a flip.

@JeffFletcherOCR: And here's what's been reported so far on the Jason Castro, which is still not final. Castro was in the #Angels dugout when the game ended today.

Does Nola play every day in San Diego?  If not it's a downgrade.  As an owner I'd rather him just stay in Seattle doing what he's doing.  He'll bat in the bottom third in San Diego as well.

Is that official? Not a fan of him in SD.

Nah, just rumors still.

Flipping Castro to Seattle probably as it wouldn't make sense to overhaul catching tandem completely "mid-season" like this.  Keep Hedges around with Nola would be the idea I think.
