Ian Anderson 2020 Outlook

Recommended Posts

I like the look of this kid.

Less hyped than most of the arms coming up this year, but he could be better than most of them.

Well he plays on a good team.  The wins should be there if he can continue to pitch well.

Try telling that to Touki, Kyle Wright etc. Being on a good team for wins is a small detail, the kid needs to pitch well and Anderson is showing very promising signs.

...which is why he said "the wins should be there if he can continue to pitch well."

Which is like saying the wins won't be there if he pitches badly.

Fascinating analysis there...how about some insight into what people are actually seeing from him?

I've been very impressed. That curve and change look legit, change especially has impressed me. Good heater too and he's throwing strikes.

Never expected 2 outings of 6 frames right off the bat, showed great composure with the jump. Just hope he doesn't do TOO well to keep his cost suppressed for next year.

Surprised it's quiet in here after an absolutely dominant start.  A hiccup in the 2nd which really shows where his risk lies - command just disappears for him sometimes.  He showed real poise to get through 7 innings with 9k and a gorgeous strikeout of Soto on a change.  He showcased his ceiling here.  There were comments that his previous start really fell apart after his error on a throw to 1st so it's great to see him keep his composure after 3 walks.

If a player does well there usually isn't much discussion unless it is his debut etc.  This isn't a fan site.  It's a fantasy baseball site.  More about projections moving forward etc.  We have enough evidence at this point to see that Anderson is having a really good rookie season so it isn't in the least surprising that there isn't many comments on this thread.  Nothing wrong about commenting on him or anyone else.  But again, certainly not surprising there isn't.  A quiet threat is usually a good player's thread.

Sure, there is usually just a bit more discussion when it's a rookie, especially a top 100 prospect.  It's also football Sunday so there are probably very few people on the board.
