brockpapersizer 11,408
Well what do you know, despite winning the championship, the Dodgers got a super elite prospect and the likely the consensus #1 international prospect (the last 4 were Maitan, Wander Franco, Luciano, and Jasson Dominguez). To be fair, none of these guys have done anything in the majors, but the last 3 are as elite/ high upside prospects as you can get. Hard to evaluate the J2 guys in general, and even more so coming off a year with few minor league coverage. That being said, I usually always like the top J2 guy, maybe the top few honestly, but top holds more value. Crazy how a team like the Red Sox spent a year tanking and losing games couldn't get him but the defending champions improved their farm. They are also getting another top 10 guy too, but I'm less excited about that (for now). Pretty great to pick up a guy who otherwise would have arguably been a top 5-10 pick. The system is flawed, but yay Dodgers. The below image is taken from a free preview of a paid article, so I assume its ok. Luckily it stopped at 4
Gobux1970 68
There isn’t a ton of fypd available yet but Anderson appears to be the high guy on Diaz. The other sites I’ve seen so far have Diaz lumped in with Christian Hernandez and Carlos Colmenarez in the 8-15 range. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fantraxhq.com/fypd-rankings-top-100-2020-fantasy-baseball/amp/ https://www.google.com/amp/s/prospects365.com/2020/07/02/ray-butlers-2021-first-year-player-draft-rankings-july/amp/ https://razzball.com/top-ten-for-2021-first-year-player-dynasty-drafts/ FanGraphs has Diaz as the 6th best international prospect, behind Colmenarez {3) but ahead of Hernandez (10). https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/international-players/summary?sort=-1,1&type=0

Some of those articles seem a bit outdated and I trust James Anderson to be on top of it more than all those writers, besides maybe fangraphs, but I think Anderson has a better pulse on what plays for fantasy. I'll put Wilman first for me too, but like I said, I usually like the top few guys and depending on where they go in FYPD, it sure might make sense to get someone safer in round 1 and then just whichever falls to you in round 2. I really don't know how they actually play out in FYPD's yet.
Shamrocks 24
i mean hes years away and i cant see taking him 5th in a FYPD but top 12 maybe. like you wont get him if you dont get him now but whos got the patience to wait and what does US development for these guys even look like anymore Edited January 2 by Shamrocks

In fypd for late 2018 it sure looks begger to have Luciano than India, Mize, or Gorman right now honestly and those guys all went wel before him as well as guys like Nico Horner and others I'm not remembering. I think the deeper the league, like 20+ team deep dynasty then it makes sense to go a little safer but I probably still wouldn't. Different strategies for sure, but I like to swing for the fences with prospects.
Shamrocks 24
yeah thats fair, i think id put him behind Veen and Lacy and maybe Wells but obviously if you dont get him now you will have to pay the inflated price before he even comes stateside. i guess i just dont know what development looks like for these guys over the next few years. I do agree that they probably hold their value a bit more by not playing than someone like India or Gorman did by being 'meh'...maybe youve sold me

I'd target both in FYPD leagues, maybe whichever falls will provide more value, but I think either could be the best guy and have no issue with taking Hernandez 1 from the J2 crop.

Pretty much agree, Prospects Live released their FYPD rankings yesterday and they have Hernandez 11, Diaz 25 and Colmenarez 28. https://www.prospectslive.com/lists/2021/1/9/2021-first-year-player-draft-fypd-rankings Edited January 12 by Gobux1970
